Skip-Navigation

Skip-navigation links are provided at the tops of the left column and the right column. The skip-navigation links provide fast access to the main content in the center column.

Keyboard Shortcuts / Access Keys

For quick access to pages and for better accessibility to site visitors without a mouse, there are integrated keyboard shortcuts. They are accessible using the following characters.

• Access Key "a" is a shortcut to this page, which describes supported accessibility features
• Access Key "h" is a shortcut to the home page.
• Access Key "g" is a shortcut to Get Help, which is a directory of MNIP members that provide information and referral.
• Access Key "q" is a shortcut to the site-query tool, located in the left column of many pages.
• Access Key "r" is a shortcut to a list of resources.
• Access Key "s" is a shortcut to the site map.
• Access Key "t" is a shortcut to the Tell-A-Friend tool, which e-mails the URL of the page.
• In the results pages produced from the site-query tool (located in the left column of many pages), access keys are numbers: "1", "2", "3", etc.. Access keys correspond to numbered links on each results page.

The keyboard combinations that activate shortcuts depend upon operating system and Web browser. The table in the right column has the details.

Changing Text Size and Background Color

To change the text size, click a choice that appears in the top, right corner of any page. Clicking the last choice listed displays the largest text size on a black background.

Content

• The text of each link is written so it makes sense out of context. This enables tabbing from one link to another.
• Headings are used to aid tabbed navigation of page content.
• Acronyms, such as "MNIP", are spelled out for those Web browsers and screen readers that have this feature enabled.
• All images include descriptive text (ALT) attributes.

Visual Design

• Cascading Style Sheets are used.
• The content of every page is readable even if Style Sheets are not used.
• This site uses the default typeface of visitors' Web browsers.
• Only relative font sizes are used.
