Narrative

My name is Louise Marie Hogan and I’m a Certified Life Coach (certified by Transformation Services, Inc.) and a Certified Peer Specialist with credentials in both Massachusetts (The Transformation Center) and Virginia ( I completed a training with DBSA, a national organization promoting the advancement of people who live with depression).

As a personal coach, I can work with you on finding your life's purpose, your passions, your interests. Coaching is a good match when you feel you want very practical help on making a specific step forward into becoming something you know you want to be or discovering who that is.

Peer Specialists partner with you to help you uncover your own truths, needs and goals, but it also has a feeling based focus where you process what your challenges are and past and present experiences.  Unlike traditional therapists, we don’t just sit there and listen.  While we do spend our time helping you identify your goals, your hurts, your dreams and your struggles much like  therapists, we also share some of our personal experiences when it’s appropriate to help guide you in your recovery and realization of the life you want to live.

Maybe you are struggling with concerns/challenges/life issues with your own disability.  Or maybe you have a family member you are a caregiver to and you really need support.  I am here to listen to you and help you take care of you.

Working with a peer specialist allows you to explore your feelings without feeling that someone is labeling you or stigmatizing you.  Seeing someone else who has made changes in their life can be powerful because you start to see recovery is not only possible, you see its happening right in front of you and you realize you are not alone.

You will be working with someone who has 10 years of experience providing advocacy assistance helping people with disabilities, so you will be with someone who is deeply acquainted with some of the needs and services people with depression, anxiety, PTSD etc. face on a daily basis.

I would love the chance to help you or a friend/ family member help get the support that is very much needed.  Life should be about thriving not just surviving.

I am able to meet at a mutually convenient location somewhere near the Cambridge/Greater Boston area, may travel depending on distance and costs of travel. I can also do appts by skype which allows you to be from any town/ get help in the comfort of your home.  And I can work with you by telephone as well but prefer to do some in person/skype appts as I believe that is more effective.
