Day Programs

Day Programs

Work may not be a goal for everyone. These programs give people a range of activities to best meet their needs, likes and level of support. Day Hab and Community Based Day Supports may also be referred to Day/Work Activity programs.

Day Habilitation (Day Hab)

Day Hab can offer intensive therapeutic supports, including:

  • nursing care
  • occupational therapy (OT)
  • physical therapy (PT)
  • speech therapy (SLT)
  • behavior management
  • communication skills
  • help with ADLs
  • social groups and activities

Specialized programs exist for those needing high levels of care. Skills training and community activities may be provided. Programs are funded by DDS.

Community Based Day Supports (CBDS)

Community Based Day Supports programs focus on: 

  • community inclusion
  • forming relationships
  • health and wellness activities
  • hobbies
  • life skills (ex: meal prep, laundry)
  • pre-vocational skills
  • social skills
  • volunteering 

Programs are funded by DDS./

Adult Day Health (ADH) Programs

Adult Day Health Programs offer daytime supervision and care in a community group setting for people aged 18+ with a cognitive, medical, or mental health condition. Funding is provided by MassHealth.

Services include:

  • activities – i.e., social, recreational, educational, therapeutic
  • case Management
  • dementia care – limited to specific adult day health facilities
  • health Monitoring
  • medication Reminders / Administration
  • nutrition Services – meals and snacks
  • personal Care Assistance – i.e., mobility, transferring, bathing, dressing, toileting, eating
  • supervision
  • socialization
  • skilled Nursing
  • therapies (physical, occupational, speech)
  • transportation – between one’s home and adult day health facility
