Narrative
Our programs offer a wide variety of services to children, adolescents, and adults in our community. Our services include day treatment for adults, adult day health for adults, outpatient therapy for children, adolescents and adults (individual, couples, family, groups), a food pantry, case management, psychiatry for adults, and a therapeutic after school program for children.
The Children’s Therapeutic After-School Program in West Roxbury, Mass., provides structured, therapeutic activities to at-risk children between the ages of 6 and 12.
We work with children with diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and intellectual disability. Often, children approved to be in this program have experienced significant trauma. Therefore, all our staff receive additional training in trauma-focused treatments.
The program is operated by May Institute’s Behavioral Health Services and funded by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH).
