Community Employment provides connections to individual competitive jobs, group-based employment at staffed sites, and volunteer opportunities to build vocational skills and job readiness. Individuals earn minimum wage or higher at all job placements, and many individuals work at their own job in their community. Employment staff provide training in interview skills, traveling, money management, applications, and job coaching. Job coaches stay connected to individuals in independant jobs on a weekly basis to support their success, maintenance, and growth at each placement.
Community-Based Day Supports (CBDS) is a day program focused on building skills for future job development, teaching participants interpersonal skills, encouraging independance, building motivation to work, and exploring the community by engaging in volunteer activities, local events, and skill-building tasks. CBDS supports individuals of all ages, from young adults just beginning to explore their work options to older participants who are nearing retirement age and want to stay engaged and involved in their community.
Participants in both Community Employment and Community-Based Day Supports are trained in individual Human Rights and self-advocacy, with a strong emphasis in both programs on building self-confidence, self-esteem, and independance to promote positive experiences at work, in the community, and in their daily lives.
