The Lutheran Creative Living Program (LCL) is a unique residential program for adults with developmental disabilities. These individuals have been referred to LCL by the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDS). Services of the residents not only have a developmental disability but also have other diagnoses, such as seizure disorders and mental health concerns. The individuals have moved to LCL from their family homes or other group home settings and live in individual apartments within a large eight person group home that is staffed 24 hours a day.  Typically, they range in age from mid-20’s to early 60’s.

The residents attend a variety of day programs, ranging from day habilitation to competitive employment. When they return to LCL in the late afternoon, they participate in household chores and are empowered to become as independent as possible in their daily living skills.  The residents of LCL require 24 hour  supervision and supports in life skill areas. Some of these supports consist of apartment maintenance, food/clothing shopping, cooking, exercise and budgeting. LCL staff facilitates and attends medical and psychiatric appointments on a regular basis. Staff are trained and certified by the Department of Public Health’s Medication Administration Program (MAP) to administer medication to those individuals who cannot manage this skill independently. Many participants participate in enrichment and community activities throughout the greater community of Andover.
