Narrative

Southeast Alternative School (SAS) supports students in making successful transitions between school placements as well as to employment and post secondary educational opportunities. The staff at SAS work in concert with sending schools to design individually tailored plans to meet a student’s academic, vocational, and social and emotional needs.

The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Transition Planning Form is completed annually and reviewed regularly as part of the IEP process. Transition planning begins for each student on the day they arrive at the school and is a constant topic of treatment planning. For students approaching graduation or 2 years prior to the age of 22, the school will assist the Team in determining whether a Chapter 688 referral or a referral to adult services is appropriate.
