Narrative

THE PIONEER VALLEY TRANSIT AUTHORITY offers van service (also called paratransit service) to elderly and disabled residents of Hadley.  To schedule a van trip, call 1-866-277-7741 toll-free at least 2 days ahead but no more than 5 days ahead.  If you have a disability that prohibits you from riding the regular PVTA fixed route or “big bus”, you may apply to receive transportation under ADA which offers extended service hours over the regular Dial-A-Ride paratransit program. There is a charge for all of these trips.  Tickets are available for purchase at the Council office.  A book of 20 $2.50 one-way van tickets costs $47.50.  If you encounter difficulties arranging for transportation through P.V.T.A., please call the Council on Aging and let us assist you.

Transportation by the Council on Aging is offered to supplement the P.V.T.A. service should a resident need to travel to a destination not served by them.  Weekly shopping trips to local supermarkets and other retail stores are made on most Thursdays.  Semimonthly day trips and some overnight trips are also available.  For a listing of the day and overnight trips, please see our travel category.
