Narrative

Adaptable Abodes, LLC

Accessibility Design & Home Modification Consulting (Oregon, Washington, & Remotely in other states)

At Adaptable Abodes, we help older adults and people with disabilities live more safely, comfortably, and independently at HOME. Founded by Kelly Nesbitt, OTR/L, CAPS, ECHM, our practice blends clinical expertise with thoughtful, person-centered design.

With over 25 years as an occupational therapist, Kelly brings deep insight into how physical, neurological, and cognitive challenges impact daily life. She has nearly two decades of remodeling experience, ensuring that each home modification is both functional and beautiful.

Kelly specializes in working with people who have spinal cord injury (SCI), Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), ALS, dementia, stroke, and brain injury - designing environments that support long-term health, accessibility, and dignity.

She holds certifications as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and in Home Modifications (ECHM) from USC, with advanced knowledge of ADA standards and Oregon-specific building codes.

In addition to home consulting, Adaptable Abodes also offers expert OT legal support services for attorneys and life care planners. Services include cognitive and functional capacity evaluations, defensible home modification reports, and cost projections for trusts and care plans.

Whether you’re planning ahead, recovering from injury, or facing new accessibility needs, Adaptable Abodes is here to help you create a home that works for your life now—and into the future.
