Organization Narrative

Cape Organization for the Rights of the Disabled (CORD) is a grassroots advocacy organization and independent living center serving Cape Cod, Nantucket & Martha’s Vineyard. Operates a peer assistive technology project providing equipment related services to southeastern MA. CORD also works on issues with statewide and national impact. Membership based and controlled; regular group meetings.

  • involved in advocacy around ADA, communication & architectural access, health care, benefits, assistive technology, housing and deinstitutionalization
  • Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) – working with students ages 14-22 who are transitioning to community from special education services.
