Organization Narrative
Disability Law Center, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization that is the protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities in Massachusetts. DLC provides information and referral, advice, short-term assistance and legal representation for people with disabilities who have disability-related civil legal issues. DLC also provides training and technical assistance to advocates and attorneys, and has a large selection of community legal education materials on its website. All services are free. There are no income limits for services, but income may be a factor in case acceptance if capacity is limited.
DLC receives federal, state and private funding but is not part of the state or federal government.
All intake is done through the Boston office. Services are statewide. Intake is generally done by telephone unless other arrangements are needed as an accommodation.

Services

DLC establishes case-handling and advocacy priorities based on input from a wide range of people with disabilities. Check the DLC website, for updates.
DLC does not handle criminal cases or general legal problems such as obtaining a divorce, filing for bankruptcy or trust & estate issues.
