Organization Narrative
MetroWest Center for Independent Living (MWCL) is a consumer-controlled, community based, non-profit organization that seeks to empower individuals with disabilities with the skills and the knowledge necessary to be self-sufficient and productive members of the community. MWCIL is committed to the independent living movement and strongly emphasizes the consumer involvement and control in the provision of all services. MWCIL is controlled by members and a board of directors composed of a majority of individuals with disabilities, professionals and interested individuals from the MetroWest area of Massachusetts.
MWCIL is a partner of the Metrowest Aging and Disability Resource Consortium (MWADRC), and provides an Options Counseling program, which enables individuals to make informed choices about the services and supports available to them in the community.
MWCIL‘s office is fully accessible. MWCIL offers technical assistance, brailling services, public/consumer education and outreach, and ADA consulting. We also have a computer recycling program and offer computer training classes to consumers.
