Organization Narrative

Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library The Braille & Talking Book Library loans braille and recorded reading materials and the playback equipment necessary to use them.  You are eligible for services if you are unable to read print books due to a disability.

Services

The Library loans books in a wide array of different subject categories, spanning everything from classics to recent bestsellers in English and many other foreign languages.   Books for both adults and children are available in braille, large print or on cassette.   The Library also offers a selection of over 90 magazines on either cassette or in braille.

Call for an application form.   You will receive your equipment of books seven to ten days after the Library approves your application.

Books will be sent to you as often as you wish.  The Library will also provide the playback equipment you need, delivered right to your door.  A catalog listing of the newest available books will be sent to you every two months.

Hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, day care facilities, schools and other agencies serving individuals who qualify may also apply for braille and talking book services.
