Narrative
Serving clients in their homes and schools in Somerville, Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, and the greater Boston area since 2019.
I have a passion for working with children and their families to build communication skills and confidence. I specialize in developmental social pragmatic interventions, which is a fancy way of saying that I help kids to learn through playing with purpose. While this model is especially good for children with social communication challenges, such as those that occur with autism spectrum disorder and sensory processing disorder, all children can benefit from opportunities to build their skills in safe, natural, and meaningful play.
I grew up hiking the foothills of Colorado. After spending much of my teenage years babysitting, I put myself through college by working at a Reggio Emilia-style preschool, earning scholarships through the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children. After graduating with a double Bachelor of Arts in both Speech, Language and Hearing Science and Psychology, I moved to Boston to complete my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Northeastern University. After completing my fellowship year as a fledgling SLP, I remained in Massachusetts for the amazing professional development options available for healthcare workers and the incredible education system. This has provided me with opportunities to work in several different practice settings, including public schools, private schools, outpatient clinics, and home-based care.
I hold a certificate of clinical competence from The American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), and am licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Additionally,
I hold certifications in "name brand" interventions such as DIR/Floortime, The Hanen Centre’s More Than Words, Dynamic Temporal-Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for childhood apraxia of speech, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and more.
I have presented my work at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s national convention, the Sensory Processing Institute for Research and Learning Foundation, and the American Occupational Therapy Association’s national conference.
