Narrative

The mission of AKABA is to serve those in our community who require care.

Because we live and work in the same community as those we serve, we are invested in providing the same quality care to you that we would give to members of our own families. It is our goal to help you achieve better health and overall wellbeing. We work to preserve your dignity and respect. As guests in your home, we offer maximum support and care with minimal disruption of your daily life.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the specific and comprehensive use of the principles of learning, including operant and respondent conditioning, in order to address behavioral needs of widely varying people. At AKABA, we primarily use ABA as therapy for children with autism to improve their quality of life and the quality of life of the whole family.

AKABA uses an individualized, scientifically-validated, behavioral approach to helping people develop and build on their personal, academic, and social skills. Our therapy professionals assess where each individual is in terms of the foundations of learning. For each person, we build from there according to the family's goals, and at the optimal individual pace for each client. We use a positive approach that is often seen as games. We help people replace unproductive behaviors such as aggression with helpful, rewarding behaviors such as listening, adherence, and play.
