Narrative
The DDS Assistive Technology Centers (ATC) provide people eligible for DDS services with assistive technology needs through consultation, modification and/or fabrication of assistive devices deemed necessary to increase an person's functional ability and personal safety.
Areas addressed include seating and mobility, aids for daily living, recreation, job accommodation, and environmental or equipment consultation to maximize independence and engagement in meaningful activities. The centers focus on ensuring that the assistive technology needs of people supported by DDS are properly prescribed, fitted, and utilized.
Assistive Technology solutions are addressed first through commercially available products that may be modified if required and appropriate. When this is not an option, solutions may be fabricated to meet the person's needs.
