Narrative

Riverside’s Residential Services for acquired brain injury (ABI) have been developed specifically for adults who are living with an acquired brain injury, either traumatic or non-traumatic. We provide homes in residential neighborhoods where people are a part of the community in which they live. We work to help each person reach their goals while recovering from injury. Riverside offers personalized care with a high staff-to-person-served ratio. It focuses on providing rehabilitation in the least restrictive setting possible.

Each home has been designed or renovated to meet the needs of individuals with ABI. Three to four people live in their own bedrooms with shared common areas. Members are encouraged to decorate their rooms and socialize with housemates. Staff works with each person to get them involved in their community through daily activities, work, and volunteer opportunities.

Employees are available 24/7. Our staffing is adjusted to meet the needs of the people we serve. Staff help with daily living activities (ADLs) and act as coaches and mentors for residents. They encourage safe skill development, community participation, and social activities.
