Narrative

Therapeutic day hab program for adults with developmental disabilities (DD). Services provided include OT, PT, SL Therapy, Behavior Management, Nursing Services and Community Integration.

The following service need areas are addressed in Service Needs Assessments and Day Habilitation Service Plans:

• Our Speech Language Pathologist looks at Social Development and Communication. It includes supports that develop speech and language skills, the use of assistive and talking communication devices (AT), signing and computers. People can have positive social interactions and expressing feelings or needs.
• Our Physical Therapist assesses Sensorimotor. This promotes personal well-being through exercise, strength training, flexibility, balance and mobility. Sports, games, aerobics, stretching and walking are offered.
• Our Occupational Therapist looks at Sensorimotor, Independent Living and Self-Help. We focus on self-care, cooking, household skills, creative arts, horticulture and sensory integration.
• Our Behavior Analyst assesses Affective Development and Behaviors This includes devising behavior interventions and the development of behavior appropriate to time and place. It includes emotional processing, decision making and ability to respond to different situations.
• Our Nursing staff looks at overall health and wellness. We have supervision, interventions and education in areas of wellness.

In working to meet more and more requests, an alternative service model was developed. All of the supports offered by our day habilitation services are made available on an outreach basis. This service was designed to provide a full support system for people who are unable or choose not to be part of  traditional day programs on a regular basis.
