Narrative
Formally a sheltered workshop, Work Opportunity Center, Inc. provides Community Based Day Services(CBDS) for individuals who need to participate in programming during the day.
The CBDS program of supports is designed to enhance an individual to enrich his or her life and enjoy a full range of community activities py providing opportunities for developing, enhancing, and maintaining competency in personal, social and community activities. At WOC, Inc. the CBDS program is broken down into two different "tracks". The Work Track Program is for individuals that are on the pathway to employment. Individuals are given the opportunity of career exporation, volunteer experience, situational assessments, educational and skill development, enhancing Activities of Daily Living as well as Independent Living Skills. The Social Activities Track is for individuals in which working at a community job is not a goal for them. This CBDS group pursues personal interests and hobbies, participates in integrated community expeiences, works on socialization experiences and enhances interpersonal skills. In both programs, the activities that are offered on a daily basis fall into one of the five following core categories of programming: Emploiyment/Volunteer, Life Skills, Social Growth, Education and Health & Wellness.
