Narrative

KeySteps, Inc is a community based agency which provides full time, year round counseling, information, referral, case management, outreach, life skills education and other support services for at risk teens enrolled in five urban high schools in Boston, MA: Charlestown High, Newcomers Academy, Boston International High, West Roxbury Academy and Urban Science Academy. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive range of wrap around services and support for at risk school-age youth in order to ensure that they stay in school and gain the skills and emotional resiliency to become educated productive adults and citizens who contriubte to society. Its Masters level, licensed staff provide full-time school-based services during and school year and throughout the summertime. Youth served include young men and young ladies who are expectant and parenting teens, newcomers to the country, special needs and others who are considered at risk of dropout. The agency supports youth to identify and resolve nonacademic barriers that hamper their ability to fully participate in academic work; nurtures positive engagement with educators, peers, family and friends which help create sustainable lifestyles for youth; promotes responsible behavior, health decision making and high expectations amongst youth, families, educators and others. Since 1978, KeySteps, formerly known as the Comprehensive School-Age Parenting Program, Inc has promoted youth achievement, resilience and success for all youth.
