Narrative

Staff members of the Italian Home's clinical department are masters-level therapists trained in working with traumatized and emotionally disturbed children and their families. Clinical interventions with residential children focus on assisting the child and his/her family to make measurable progress toward family reunification, using specific task-centered goals. Clinical interventions with day students focus on supporting and strengthening family living. Therapists at the Home provide a number of services including: Individual therapy, Therapeutic group work, Family treatment, Case management, Collaboration with outside agencies, Aftercare planning and support The following therapeutic services are offered to children and families at the Home: Community Reintegration + support services, Abuse Reactive Behavior, After Care Services, Parent Empowerment Group, Fire setters, Peer Socialization, Preparation for Adoption, Art and Activity Groups, Afterschool Vacation & Summer School Services, Clinical assessment, psychological testing and medication evaluations are available as needed through the Home's relationship with the Family + Community Solutions Mental Health Clinic. CBHI Services, In Home Therapy and Therapeutic Mentoring are offered.
