Narrative

Provides a continuously available staffed telephone service providing information, support and referrals, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Individuals who are experiencing an acute emotional episode may call the Crisis Hotline or walk in to the local mental health clinic for emergency assessment by a clinician. The assessment is likely to include immediate intervention services and planning for crisis support as follow-up. Immediate needs are addressed, and a plan is made to include natural supports. Trained mental health professionals are responsible for preadmission screening for the State Hospitals.
