Narrative

Dog Bones consists of five major parts including:

  • Visits: Our primary focus is therapeutic contact provided by registered and insured therapy dog teams.
  • Outreach: Using directed outreach, we are able to locate and register facilties that would like to receive visits by our therapy dog teams. We match our teams with facilities requesting visits. We support our therapy dog teams and facilities by setting up initial contacts between facility and the team. We then provide ongoing assistance as needed.
  • Workshops: Dog Bones offers an Introduction to Becoming A Therapy Dog Workshop several times a year. Upon completion, dogs and handlers with good basic obedience skills and appropriate temperaments, may become registered/insured therapy dog teams.
  • Support: Members, either therapy dog team or facility members receive ongoing support from Dog Bones.
  • Reading Partner Certification: Testing is available for teams who want to participate in Literacy Programs for children in schools or at libraries.
  • American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Testing: For members who want to add CGC to their dogs qualifications.
