Narrative

The Early Intervention Parent Leadership Project (EIPLP) ia a program of the Department of Public Health. Created by parents, this project is staffed by parents whose children have received Early Intervention (EI) services. The EIPLP works with Early Intervention programs, the Massachusetts Inter-agency Coordinating Council, and families who receive EI services, for these three main purposes:

  • To develop and support informed parents
  • To promote leadership and lifelong advocacy skills for parents and family members
  • To facilitate family participation to ensure that Early Intervention services are family-centered.
The Massachusetts Early Intervention system offers many opportunities for family participation. The EIPLP opens doors and provides support for families to take on a variety of roles in the EI system. These parents take part in the EI system from the local program level to the statewide Inter-agency Coordinating Council
