Narrative
Early Intervention in Massachusettes is overseen by the Department of Public Health. We serve children from birth to three years of age. Children and families are eligible for Early Intervention services by having an identified diagnosis, developmental delays and/or are at risk for delays due to environmental concerns.
Our staff is comprised of Developmental Specialists, Social Workers, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Nurses, Music/Art Therapists, Mental Health Counselors and Psychologists. We work in a very culturally diverse community and to best serve these families our staff is composed of specialists and therapists who speak many different languages.
The Eliot Early Intervention Program uses a consultation model and works within the families natural environment. We use the materials already found in the home, childcare setting or community to develop strategies. When goals are identified by the family we provide strategies that are embedded in the families everday routine providing families ample opportunities to practice these strategies and support thier child's ability to meet the next developmental milestones.
