Supported employment services that provide person-centered support so people with disabilities can succeed in independent competitive employment. Our Employment Specialists take the time to understand clients’ personal interests, skills, and support needs in order to make successful job matches with community employers. The staff’s relationship with a number of employers has been essential to the success of current clients on the job and has led to opportunities for other clients.

Services include:

  • Assessment of skills
  • Job searching
  • Job development and matching
  • Intensive initial job coaching
  • Check-in support to assist the individual in maintaining successful employment and positive employer relationships

JF&CS is able to provide this service through DDS funding, private pay, and private donations.

Pathways to Employment

Pathways to Employment is a program sponsored by the Jewish community to help people with disabilities gain the skills needed to be independent and successful at work. The program is for adults who are motivated to work but need to develop workplace soft skills, such as:

  • Effective communication
  • Problem solving
  • Time management and personal organization
  • Following instructions
  • Professionalism and work ethic
  • Networking

Programming emphasizes learning together in an interactive classroom setting as well as in the community while volunteering. There are typically six individuals in each group. Participants should be able to be independent in the community without constant supervision and frequent cueing and commit to attending three days a week either Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays or Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at our Brighton or Canton locations. Participants typically use the RIDE to get to and from the program, although the Brighton location is also accessible by the MBTA bus and train.
