Narrative

EPIC Service Warriors is a one-year community service and leadership development program for youth and young adults with disabilities (16-23yrs old). EPIC Service Warriors work as a team to learn leadership, employment, and independent living skills to meet their personal and professional goals.  Warriors meet twice a month to participate in community service projects and leadership development workshops throughout the City of Worcester.

Examples of service projects include: cleaning local parks, preparing meals for those in need, community farming, painting murals, and working with local nonprofits.  Leadership Development workshop topics include Disability History, resume building, mock interviews, political literacy, public speaking, and teamwork.

At the end of the program, Service Warriors emerge from the program with a new understanding of their abilities and opportunities available to them in their community.  Service Warriors complete a minimum of 110 hours of community service, become registered or pre-registered to vote, and have updated resumes by graduation.

EPIC Service Warriors is a competitve program so young people must complete the application process to in order to be accepted.
