Narrative
At Next Step we believe that if you empower seriously ill young people with the right tools and knowledge they will begin asking "Whats Next?" instead of "Why me?" We serve teens and young adults with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, HIV, sickle cell disease, and rare genetic diseases.
There’s a reason why what we do works: we start with the unshakeable belief that a young person’s medical condition should not define them. We’ve built a program structure that brings this belief to life. And we never forget that everything we create has to resonate with and be relevant to young people, who have unique needs related to their age and experience.
Leadership training, advocacy and transition to adult healthcare. This is a 3 day program for teens and young adults (ages 16-26) who have metabolic and other genetic disorders. Young people with PKU, galoctosemic, neurofibromatosis and other conditions meet together to share experiences and learn ways to build leadership, advocacy and life skills.
