Narrative

Highpoint in Lenox specializes in the treatment of adolescent males, aged 11-16 years of age, who exhibit sexually abusive behaviors, behaviors which pose a potential risk to the safety of others. For many Highpoint students sexualized thought and behavior patterns will be a lifelong self- management issue. Additionally, most Highpoint students are also diagnosed with psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities, and/or mild intellectual disabilities. Therefore, the development of relapse prevention skills and techniques are critical. Program utilizes a variety of clinical academic & social tools to assist students in developing appropriate behaviors in order to promote integration into community setting. Fee paid by tuition. Referrals accepted from DOE, DCF and DYS. Chapter 766 Special Education NYPUM, Clubs, adventure based counseling.

In addition to treatment for sexualized behaviors, Highpoint also provides residential treatment for high risk behaviors of physical aggression, self-injury and suicidal ideation, fire setting and substance abuse.
