Narrative

  • Up to 120 children attend MLKFS  after school and participate in quality programming with the goal of helping them to become academically sound and nurturing their critical thinking skills. Students are offered homework help, character building, STEM programming, sports and fitness, literacy support and arts/cultural experiences.
  • Offer quality programming which empowers young people to be critical thinkers and with an academic advantage
  • Provide homework helpcharacter educationsports and fitness, literacy retentioncultural experiences in the arts
  • Assist in bridging the family with school and the MLK After School Program
  • Advocacy and referral for the well-being and rights of all children and families
  • Provide comprehensive case management for children eligible for supportive services
  • Partner with the Springfield Public Schools, Springfield Public Library, Reading for Success, WESTMOS, Department of Children and Families
