Narrative

Since 1984 Casa Esperanza, Inc. has provided integrated bilingual and bicultural behavioral health services to Latinos in Massachusetts. Our mission is to empower individuals to recover from addiction, trauma, mental illness and other chronic medical conditions, to overcome homelessness, and to achieve health and wellness through comprehensive, integrated care.

One of the residential programs at Casa Esperanza, the Latinas y Niños Program focuses on the unique cultural and social needs of Latina women in recovery and their children, promoting positive female roles as a nurturing parent, supportive partner and friend, and contributing community member. Our clients receive onsite behavioral health treatment focused on healing from mental illness and addiction while also securing resources essential for maintaining recovery such as housing, health insurance, employment and other benefits.

The Latinas y Niños Program at Casa Esperanza is especially well suited for adult women:

  • struggling with alcohol or substance use, mental illness and other chronic medical conditions
  • without secure and stable housing
  • living with HIV/AIDS
  • who are single, pregnant, postpartum and/or have children 10 years of age or younger
  • re-entering from incarceration

Though our program typically lasts 6-9 months for single women and one year for women with children, all programming is tailored to meet the needs of each client and family.

Our fees are income-based. Clients with a source of income greater than $300/month are expected to pay 30% of their net income. Clients who are homeless with an income of less than $300/month do not pay a fee.
