Narrative

YOUTH PROGRAM

Youth program for children who are blind or visually impaired, ages 5 to 13. Provides social, educational, and recreational activities generally on weekends.

SENIOR YOUTH PROGRAM

Youth program for children who are blind or visually impaired, ages 14 to 21. Meets for social, recreational and educational activities generally on weekends.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED PARTNERS (VIP)

Site-based program for mentoring and matching blind/visually impaired youth and adults with successful visually impaired adults who act as positive role models. Enrollment in Youth or Adult programs is required.

ADULT PROGRAM

Adult program for individuals who are blind or visually impaired ages 22+. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays (usually from 10 AM until noon) at the Lowell Association for the Blind (LAB) or out in the community. Participants enjoy a wide variety of social, recreational, and educational activities.

 

BRAILLE INSTRUCTION

Individual braille lessons provided in the LAB office, including reading and composing braille.



Job Opportunities for the Blind Program (JOB)

Job identification and career skill building training. Teaching necessary skills for the Blind and visually impaired to succeed in the workforce. Includes training in Social Media, Assistive Technology, Resume building, Communication skills, and Self Advocacy.

TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE

 

General support offered for information technology products and services. Answer questions regarding general applications and hardware (i.e. JAWS, ZoomText, Apple devices, Google devices)
