Narrative

We provide full-day, year-round educational and vocational services for children and adolescents from preschool to age 22, using proven methods of treatment and teaching based on the latest clinical and applied research. School services can be combined with a community-based residential program at one of several homes in nearby neighborhoods. The May Center School is a Massachusetts Chapter 766-approved school.

Our Family Services and Counseling department provides individual and group counseling to students at the May Center School.

We address issues related to brain injury and neurobehavioral disorders, adjustment to new school and residential settings, social skills development, coping strategies, as well as a variety of mental health diagnoses.

Students receive counseling services in school during the school day. Residential students may receive additional services, as needed, in the residences.

Our team also works with families, and our school and residential staff, to share helpful strategies and provide consistency of care and support in all settings.

The Family Services/Counseling Department consists of two full-time, licensed clinical social workers and one Family Services Coordinator.
