Narrative

A state-of-the-art employment services approach for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder to obtain competitive integrated employment aligned with their skills, education, interests, and strengths. Services focus on an integrated approach through the provision of psycho-education and a full range of job development activities facilitated by a licensed clinician and a Career Navigator (CN).

Areas include of anxiety management, behavioral interviewing, and social skills training in small groups and then 1:1 job development services. Services based on The Meaningful Job Initiative’s service model in collaboration with the May Institute that incorporates four key components:

Assessment and Training 

A Career Navigator garners a robust picture of the job seeker through observations, interactions, and interviews to identify patterns, themes, and values of the person, which are translated into ideal employment characteristics. Anxiety/Stress Management, Behavioral Interview Training, Soft Skills Class and Career Development, Job Fairs, Informational Interviews, Mock Interviews at company, and class. Develop of visual or written resume, cover letters, job searching, job tours and research job descriptions.

Integrated approach

Licensed clinicians provide training to build the social and anxiety-management skills necessary to interview for and succeed in competitive job placements.  The integrated approach of delivery clinical supports and psycho-education through small group instruction with both a licensed psychologist and the CN has proven to be an effective factor in job placement success.

Job Development and Placement Services 

WORK Inc. uses a sector-based approach to identify high demand career pathways.  Potential employers are approached based on their perceived compatibility with a job seeker’s career plan and the availability of work responsibilities that reflect the interests of the job seeker. 

Post Placement Support 

Career Navigator facilitates participants’ success by identifying natural mentors, education in the workplace, and implementing solutions to optimize the participants’ first day, or the days long after the Career Navigator has faded out. 

We are seeking individuals with ASD interested in a career in the “Meaningful Jobs Initiative”.

All applicants must have proof of diagnosis with ASD, be 18 years or older, and be willing to submit to a background and drug check, as well as taking English proficiency, vision, and hearing testing.
