Narrative

Disability Services promotes community integration and independence of Island residents with disabilities. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live full, active and engaged lives regardless of physical or intellectual ability.  We support the inclusion of individuals with intellectual, mental, physical or developmental disabilities within our community and throughout their lifetime.

Island Employment Service is partially funded by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) to provide vocational evaluation and job placement services for approximately 30 individuals each year. IES has been providing services on the Island since 1987, and has maintained one of the highest placement records and job retention records in the State. The staff of IES has been recognized at the regional, state, and national level for their accomplishments on Martha's Vineyard. For more information, contact Jen Ray (x 251) or Ryan Doyon (x 250).

Family Support Center provides support to families with family members who have developmental disabilities in the communities of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The program strives to do what it takes to support families to stay together and to access needed supports and services. The Family Support Program is partially funded through a contract with the Department of Developmental Services.

For more information, contact Kathy Hackett (x249).  Sensory Integration Equipment Resource Lending Library and Autism Resource Guide are available.  Call Sharon Clauss-Zanger at Ext 206.
