Narrative

Non-profit, voluntary health organization dedicated to prevention and treatment of Tay-Sachs, Canavan & 40 other genetic disorders, many involving the central nervous system. Carrier screenings, public & professional education program, research, national parent support network, resource lists, physician referral, & advocacy. Referrals accepted from Ob-Gyns & Genetic counselors, pediatricians & pediatric neurologists, other specialists, nurses, midwives, and self-referral. Membership encouraged for parents, grandparents and extended family members. Also provide services to adults with chronic forms of these neurodegenerative genetic diseases, their families and caregivers. Printed materials are available in Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew.
