Narrative

The Stepping Forward-Staying Informed  Consumer Education Program is designed to educate individuals living with spinal cord injury, their families, and healthcare professionals about current research, emerging treatments, and programs that can have a direct impact on people's quality of life.

Scientists and clinicians from around the country present cutting edge topics such as maintaining a healthy life after spinal cord injury, current progress in stem cell initiatives, and the benefits of exercise for people living with paralysis. Consumers have the opportunity to interact directly with researchers, who present scientific information using language that is easily understood by those without a medical or scientific background. Topics are selected based on consumer feedback.

This unique consumer education program consists of a bi-monthly Dinner & Lecture Series, Consumer and Family Support Groups, and an Annual Consumer Research Conference.
