Narrative

South Shore Support Services (SSSS) has a new service to offer Caregivers Over 60 who are caring for an individual with intellectual or developmental disabilities.  As a pilot program being developed with a grant from MassHealth, SSSS  will offer "respite blocks of time" during the weekdays for Caregivers.  While the Caregivers enjoy their respite time, SSSS will have remote support staff available to check in on the individual in the home using Assistive Technology (AT) to communicate with them, and paying an in-home visit if the need arises.  This is a wonderful opportunity to try the latest in AT while helping the individual being cared for to gain some independence. At the same time, Caregivers will re-gain time for themselves to go shopping, catch a movie, take an exercise class, an art class, visit the library and much more, while SSSS monitors their loved one.

There are some qualifiers: The Caregiver must be over 60 and the individual being cared for must be a MassHealth recipient not receiving AFC and must be able to receive verbal and visual prompts.  Call us today to find out how we can help!
