Narrative

Shared Living

Our goal is to help people with disabilities live in the communities and homes of their choice. We offer individuals the opportunity to live in family homes where they can form meaningful relationships and can enjoy life as part of the community, while receiving the supports they need. In our program, individuals live in the homes of their dedicated caregivers who we call Mentors. We work closely with Mentors to provide the people we serve with personalized supports and countless opportunities to participate in home and community life. To the best of their abilities, individuals have opportunities to:

  • Socialize with family and friends

  • Learn new skills and discover new hobbies

  • Engage in household and community activities

  • Become more independent

Our dedicated staff provides a range of personalized supports, including case management, individualized service planning, and community integration.

It's All about Relationships

The Mentors who support our Shared Living program come from all walks of life and are committed to making a difference.  We call them Mentor because they are more than care providers - they are teachers, advocates, and friends who help the individuals we serve lead full lives in the community.  Our team of human services professionals and clinicians provide Mentors with a range of supports, including:

  • Certification guidance

  • Support groups

  • Ongoing skill development

  • 24/7 on-call support

Our program serves adults (ages 17 and older) with developmental disabilities qualified through Developmental Services (DDS), Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), and others.
