Narrative

The Springfield City Library is a great resource for people with visual disabilities.  All branches provide large print books for adults, and the Central Library has large print books for teens and children.  All branches and the Central Library have extensive collections of books on CD, and smaller collections of "Playaways" for adults and teens.  (These are MP3 players pre-loaded with recorded books.)  The Central Library has a modest collection of books on CD in Spanish. The Central Library (220 State Street) offers dozens of computers equipped with JAWS software.  They also have a Print Magnifier machine.

The Central Library hosts a play group for an Early Intervention program, as well as an Early Childhood Resource Center for educators and families with preschoolers.  Call or email the Library for more information.
