Narrative

The Guidance Center's mission is to be a leader in providing comprehensive developmental, mental health and family support services to Cambridge and Somerville children, including the youngest and most vulnerable, in respectful partnership with their families and our community colleagues. The agency provides various programs and services to address the broad array of each family's needs. Early Childhood Services include: Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention, Early Intervention Partnerships Program (EIPP), Healthy Families of Cambridge and Somerville (funded by the Children's Trust Fund) and Preschool Services. These home-based programs for infants, toddlers and their families focus on prevention and early intervention to help children get off to a healthy start in life. Child and Adolescent Services include: Guidance Center Family Clinic, Children With Voices: A Child Witness to Violence Program and School-Based Services. These programs provide mental health care to youth ages three through 22 and their families. Intensive Family Services include: Family After School Program (FASP), Family Advocacy Stabilization and Support Team (FASST), Meeting Place: Supervised Child Access Service, Family Intensive Reunification and Stabilization Team (FIRST), Intensive Home-Based Family Intervention and Temporary Care Services Family Support (TCS). These programs serve youth ages three through 22 and cover a wide range of services. We specialize in wraparound family support that prevents hospitalization or out of home placement and reunifies children with their families. These services are designed to strengthen families and are some of the most innovative, community-based models of their kind.
