Narrative

TM is a support service that pairs a child or youth with an adult mentor for the purpose of building and enhancing the child’s social, communication, and life skills. The Therapeutic Mentor works one-on-one with the child to achieve goals in the plan written by an outpatient therapist, In-Home Therapy provider, or an Intensive Care Coordination team. TM services include supporting, coaching, and training the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other children and adolescents, as well as adults, in recreational and social activities. TM promotes a youth’s success in navigating various social contexts, learning new skills, and making progress living in the community. Therapeutic Mentoring services can be delivered in the home, school, child care, and other community settings, as well as in social and recreational settings.
