Narrative

Misty Meadow's Therapeutic Horsemanship programs invite individuals to engage in the holistic physical, emotional, cognitive and social benefits of horsemanship under the care of PATH International Certified Instructors.

Special needs do not prevent someone from riding horses. In fact, people with special needs, in particular, can benefit from the increased flexibility, strength, balance, confidence and relationship building that comes with Therapeutic Horsemanship.

Students in the TH programs at Misty Meadows are assisted by trained staff and volunteers who provide support, individually tailored to the participants optimum learning environment. Examples of Therapeutic Horsemanship activities include learning to guide the horse independently or an outdoor Sensory Trail further both of which encourage mobility, coordination, and verbal and non-verbal communication among riders, staff, and horses.
