Narrative

The Kiva Centers is a peer-operated organization. It spun off from a disability justice advocacy group called M-POWER. Kiva Centers is a Massachusetts-based statewide peer-operated training, technical assistance, and peer support nonprofit.

Kiva Centers works to transform policy and practice in communities and systems. We  have peer support among people in all stages of their life. Our focus is the development and promotion of healing communities for people experiencing different social class impacts like:

  • trauma
  • mental health
  • substance use

We are a nationally recognized leader in trauma-informed community work, Kiva Centers is contracted by The Department of Mental Health (DMH) to provide Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) training and certification.
