Narrative
The Worcester Talking Book Library provides free services to Massachusetts residents of any age who are unable to read traditional print materials due to a visual or physical disability and to organizations serving these populations.
The Library has access to more than 990,000 volumes of recorded books in digital and audiocassette format, 10,500 large print book titles, 1,400 described video titles and 100 magazines in recorded audiocassette and Braille format.
The Worcester Talking Book Library, funded in part by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, provides mail-order service by telephone, as well as immediate walk-in service. Free mail delivery of equipment and materials, which are available in several languages. Playback equipment and accessories are loaned free. Individuals and organizations must apply for services.
Application with certification by qualified professional needed to register for services. Application is available through the website or by calling the Library. Services provided at Worcester Public Library. Librarians available Monday-Saturday, 9:00-5:30 pm. Assistive technology (K1000, K3000, JAWS, Duxbury Braille Translator) available for on-site use.
