Narrative
Eliot offers day services programs for adults with Developmental Disabilities and Brain Injuries including:
- Acquired Brain Injury Day Program offers services to fit the needs and interests of the people served. Services include access to brain injury specialists; nurses; occupational, physical, and speech therapists; and behavioral supports. Program members enjoy community activities such as volunteer work, social gatherings, daily living skill building, recreational activities, and a variety of accessible and adaptive sports and community events.
- Eliot’s Community-Based Day Services assist adults with Developmental Disabilities (DD) to develop communication, self-care, socialization, relationship-building, healthy living, and self-advocacy skills through community involvement. This is done through involvement with and contributing to the local neighborhood. People spend time with others with common interests. The program also supports people who need support and instruction to obtain their desired job.
- Eliot’s Employment Program offers opportunities for paid employment and skill development for people with Developmental Disabilities (DD). Jobs include clerical, mail room, janitorial, or maintenance positions at Eliot. Eliot is consistently seeking community partners to provide hands-on experience and career exploration to those served by the Employment Program. Staff members work closely with help them in gaining skills that will help them secure jobs.
- Independent Support Services are geared towards reintegrating individuals with Developmental Disabilities and brain injuries to independent living through community programs. Staff members work closely with people to maximize their abilities with meds management; coordinating and attending medical appointments; safety skills in the home; community and work; money management skills; and accessing public benefits.
